From their FANTASTIC show at the Hotel Utah Saloon in San Francisco, CA, I’m happy to bring you Back Door Slam, a British blues-rock trio, performing David Crosby’s “Almost Cut My Hair”. I shot this video on October 3, 2008. Once again, an apology for the necessity of a splice. My still camera has this slightly annoying habit of stopping the filming process at the most inopportune moments…. also, clearly, Davy’s vocals, though fabulously strong, as always, were not adequately amplified here…….lastly, I am so sorry I couldn’t get any closer, but you know, a girl’s got to give a performer a wee bit of room to work. LOL. So, here’s another one for you from as close as POSSIBLE. Back Door Slam, in case you are not familiar, consists of three extraordinary young men from the Isle of Man – Davy Knowles, lead guitar and vocals, Adam Jones, bass, and Ross Doyle, drums. They’ve been successfully touring the United States for a bit less than two years, and, as I type this, are about to start a month long tour opening for Gov’t Mule. They’ve had great success with their first album, Roll Away, and are expected to release their second album sometime this spring. Mr. Knowles happens to be a supremely talented songwriter as well. On this particular evening, there was a special guest in the house, all the way from the tiny Isle of Man…. there to see the boys, was Mr. Arthur Fife, their vocational guidance counselor from school.
